Background
The Last Supper was a photographic exhibition commissioned by Gasworks Arts Park and exhibited there in 2006. Using the kitchen of a house which had been abandoned for 16 years, The Last Supper examined the inherent beauty of ageing food preparation areas and equipment and highlighted the ongoing cycle of consumption, decay and renewal.

Artist Statement
“The kitchen in which we find ourselves here, and its equipment, has been abandoned for over sixteen years, but not in the usual way to which I am accustomed (dumped in back lanes, by railway tracks, on empty lots, etc). This kitchen and its not so modern mod-cons, like The Front Line gas stove immortalised here, have outlived their human master and are alone.
I hadn’t expected this. It was my original plan to find food preparation equipment, which had, according to the edicts of our disposable society, apparently outlived its useful life and was therefore abandoned to the elements. It started this way with a dishwasher in a back street in Preston but then I came upon 53 Clarke Street, Prahran and the immortalised Front Line stove. It was here that I found something special. While the house caved in around it The Front Line solidly stood its ground, waiting. For what, I’m not sure, although the house is on the market and I imagine the stove will be off to the scrap-metal yard or abandoned to the elements…in Preston perhaps.
So, from back street dumps to deceased estates, The Last Supper examines the inherent beauty of ageing food preparation areas and equipment and highlights the ongoing cycle of consumption, decay and renewal.”
